Genelec 8020A Nearfield Monitors
Genelec introduces its smallest speaker system to date with the new 8020A (Height with Iso-Pod™ 242 mm, Width 151 mm and Depth 142 mm). The system has been designed for monitoring in difficult listening environments, particularly those compromised by lack of space. However, size is no handicap to performance as the 8020A two-way active monitoring system incorporates Genelec's acoustic design innovations to minimise all forms of distortion. The 8020A has a die-cast aluminium Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE™), which features relatively large internal volumes; softly curved edges and outstanding mechanical strength. As a result, the imaging accuracy and low frequency extension with such a compact enclosure are truly astounding.
The 8020A also incorporates the advanced Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW™), which provides an amazingly smooth on and off axis response; while the long, curved reflex port ends in a wide flare for excellent bass articulation. Each monitor features a 105 mm (4 inch) bass driver along with a 19 mm (3/4 inch) tweeter loaded into a new advanced Genelec Directivity Controlled Waveguide (DCW™). The free field frequency response is 66 Hz to 20 kHz (± 2.5 dB). Maximum peak SPL output per pair with music material is 105 dB at 1 m. Bass and treble are each powered by 20 watt amplifiers.

The very compact 8030A is a powerful bi-amplified nearfield monitor system ideal for project and home studios, workstations, installations, and surround sound monitoring. The MDE™ (Minimum Diffraction Enclosure™) enclosure has rounded edges and a gently curved front and sides to achieve a very smooth frequency response and superb imaging qualities with minimized cabinet edge diffraction. Like all Genelec 8000 Series monitors, the 8030A also features the advanced Genelec Directivity Control Waveguide™ (DCW™), a revolutionary flow-optimized reflex port design, optimized die-cast aluminium structure with extremely durable semi-matt finish and acoustically optimized metal grilles. Low distortion drivers are driven by dedicated amplifiers after sophisticated filtering. Magnetic shielding, overload protection circuitry and versatile room response controls are standard. The versatile mounting features include integrated rear support points for wall and floor stands plus a further 3/8" thread for mounting on the cabinet base.
Every Genelec 8030A monitor comes with an Iso-Pod™(Isolation Positioner/Decoupler™) as standard. The Iso-Pod™ is a clever mounting stand, which allows the system to perform in either the vertical or horizontal position. It also enables the acoustic axis of the monitor to be aimed at the listener, while acoustically and mechanically decoupling the monitor from the surface it is resting on.

Boasting performance comparable to much larger systems, but in a compact package, the bi-amplified 8040A is ideal for use in many situations where a wide frequency response is needed but space is limited. Uses include nearfield monitoring, project/home studios, workstations, broadcast and TV control rooms and mobile production vehicles. The ingenious, flow optimized, reflex port achieves clear deep bass articulation with no compression or port noises. Combined with the advanced Genelec Directivity Control Waveguide™ (DCW™) and the rounded edges and gently curved front and sides of the MDE™ (Minimum Diffraction Enclosure™) enclosure, the result is an astoundingly wide, flat frequency response both on and off axis. Other benefits include superb imaging qualities and less listening fatigue.
Carefully designed crossover filters with steep roll-off feed dedicated amplifiers for each of the low distortion drivers. The 8040A includes magnetic shielding, overload protection circuitry and versatile room response controls as standard. Each 8040A comes with an Iso-Pod™ (Isolation Positioner/Decoupler™) which eliminates coloration of the sound by decoupling the monitor from its mounting surface. The Iso-Pod™ also allows the speaker to be angled so that its acoustic axis points directly at the listener. For ideal mounting in differing environments, the 8040A includes integrated rear support points for floor and wall stands, with an additional M10 threaded mounting hole on the enclosure base.
